Kobalt Tools 500 Pre-Race Notes
CE DIEHARDS - March 6, 2008 - Race Previews

Coming off his second straight win last weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Carl Edwards will be looking for his third straight victory this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Edwards, however, will have to make a rebound after a 100 point penalty after a cap off of the oil tank was found missing on Sunday after the UAW-Dodge 500.
WITHOUT OSBORNE: For the next six races, Carl Edwards will be working without his crew chief Bob Osborne at the track.  Osborne was suspended for the infraction found in Las Vegas, and Chris Andrews, head of the engineering department at Roush Fenway Racing and Robbie Reiser; team manager of the entire Sprint Cup Series teams will be on the pit box for Edwards.
EIGHT IN ATLANTA: This weekend, Carl Edwards will be making his eighth career start at the 1.54 mile Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Edwards won back-to-back events in Atlanta in 2005, and he has four top-five finishes, and six top-ten efforts on the high-banked, high speed quad-oval design venue.
FIRST TIME HISTORY AT ATLANTA: In 2004, Carl Edwards scored his first career top-five finish in October with a third place finish.  Just six months later, Carl Edwards did the unthinkable and had the weekend sweep at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series events that weekend.
Edwards on racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway:

“Atlanta is one of my favorite tracks to race. It’s a really fun track and I get excited just driving through the tunnel to get inside – I can’t wait to get there and race. The biggest day of my racing career came at Atlanta Motor Speedway, when I got my first Cup win. It’s a moment I know I’ll never forget. We’re heading to Atlanta on a streak of two consecutive wins, and I’d love to make it three in a row this weekend!”
Crew Chief, Bob Osborne on racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway:
“Atlanta is a great track for Carl. It really suits his driving style and we’ve done very well there in the past. We’re bringing a brand-new chassis this weekend, and we feel confident that it’s going to be a great car for us. I am confident in our team and driver and we should have a good showing this weekend.”
